Flavors of Malaysia

Flavors of Malaysia, so named for being a festival to celebrate the rich culinary culture and tradition of Malaysia, is ME1/08’s Malaysian Studies final project.

What to expect?
A multitude of palate-teasing dishes from major ethnic cooking methods will be on sale in a food fair,
as well as the chance to win exciting prizes (HINT HINT: MOVIE TICKETS) in a few tricky, skill-requiring games booths.
To entertain you while you dine in a unique restaurant-style setting,
there will be fantastic performances from the major ethnic groups of Malaysia, by IMU local talents. ;) Expect lots of shimmying, but we’re not saying who!
And last but not least, should you be the type that likes to read and learn, take a leisurely stroll around the atrium to experience our colorful exhibition displays about the culinary culture of Malaysia!
Come join our celebration of Malaysia’s plurality by donning your ever-so-brightly-colored national costume, and tucking in to the vast array of grub awaiting your gustatory senses!

This survey is especially important because it will help us improve the IT related facilities in IMU. (By the way, there is only one more survey left after this: the SRC evaluation survey :] ).

This survey will only be open for two weeks (until 6th of November) so please fill it in before then!

If you have trouble viewing or submitting this form, you can fill it out online:

2) Halloween Night

Date:

Friday, 30 October 2009

Time:

19:30 - 22:00

Location:

Dewan Chancellor Hall, IMU

Sometimes a good cause needs a good scare!

In 2007 IMU adopted Kampung Orang Asli Serendah as one of it's homes for it's Community and Social Responsibility Programme.

One of the challenges faced by the Orang Asli there is unclean water. Without proper water supply, the residents are vulnerable to many water-borne illnesses. The idea of raising funds is to be able to provide them with a manual water pump. Each pump (+ installation of the pump) costs about RM2500, and we hope to raise enough money for at least one (or more) pump. This will enable the residents to have a supply of properly sanitized water and reduce the number of residents with water-borne illnesses.

Various activities have been planned throughout the whole night.

Tickets are for sale for RM12 and can be purchased from any of the Vice-Presidents.

Dinner is included together with the price (bargain) so do come along for some fun but also to help out for a good cause!

For more information about the event, check it out here

3) Acoustic Night

Date:

Tuesday, 27 October 2009

Time:

19:00 - 23:00

Location:

IMU Gym - Dance studio

The event is free-of-charge and is open to all. There will be live, unplugged performances, open mike sessions and so on. So do tag along with friends and whoever you want to invite and have fun!

Reminders

Hey guys! Hope you all had a great weekend. I would just like to announce a few important issues with you all. Please do take them into consideration. Thanks!

1) Dress Code

A light reminder to all to adhere to the dress code given by IMU.

First three offenses will result in having to see your mentor and the following three offenses will result in seeing May Kuan from SSD.

A further three offenses will result in a talk with the dean and action will be taken.

2) Respect to IMU Staff Members

Complaints have been raised about some students with regards to their behavior towards staff members at IMU.

Please maintain a good relationship between students and staff members and treat them as how you would like to be treated i.e. with respect.

3) Consumption of Food in the Student Lounge

Please note that eating or drinking is not allowed in the student lounge.

This is to prevent rat infestation but its also a common area for all students to gather so please keep try to keep a clean environment for everyone.

4) Theft Around IMU

Numerous thefts have been reported so this is a reminder for you not to leave your valuables unattended. Take your valuables with you if you are attending lab sessions or to other areas where you must place your bags elsewhere.
