Go Green Campaign

Go Green Campaign will be held from 14th to 18th March 2011.

1) During this week, there will be a surcharge of 30cents for use of plastic bags or styrofoam boxes.

2) There is also a lucky draw, details are as follow: (perhaps it will be easier for you to tell them there is lucky draw and wait for them to look out for the details)

Students are strongly encouraged to bring their own container. For students who didn't use plastic bag from 14th -17th March 2011, they are entitled to a stamp. Collect 3 stamps and they are entitled to a lucky draw entry. There's no limit to lucky draw entry. Lucky draw will be held on 18th March 2011, from 11am to 12pm.

3) There is photography competition.

4) There is interbatch recyclables collection competition.

5) There will be talks held by WWF and various other NGOs.

Were you feeling too shy to show off your hidden talents? Or perhaps you know of friends who have talents, why don’t you do them a favor and just give them a little push for starters? Wait no more, get those butts off your seats and sign up for an audition now. It’s your turn to shine. A booth will be set up outside the library where u guys can sign up or u can contact any of the committee members for application form. Finalist will be performing at the IMU BALL 2011 in JW Marriott KL.

IMU BALL 2011: Flight de Fantaisie

IMU 2011 Ball Committee presents Flight de Fantaisie will be held in  JW Marriott Hotel KL on the 2^nd of April 2011 from 6.30pm-11.30pm.There will be performances, a dance floor, great food and not forgetting the incredible theme setting. All planned out for u guys and gals to enjoy with your friends. Dress code Black Tie Soiree/Formal Wear. It is gonna be a night to remember. Don’t miss it!

Get your tickets now as we have limited seats. There will be a booth selling out tickets for IMU BALL 2011, look out for it. We are following tier system for the ticket pricing so remember to get your tickets early.

PTPTN

Please help to inform your batch mates that the PTPTN officers will be coming to IMU on 5 March 2011 to check and collect the PTPTN loan documents. This for the students who have just received their online approval from PTPTN and need to submit their documents to PTPTN. Students who are currently receiving the PTPTN loan need not come. Please tell the students they need to get their documents ready. Don’t wait till the last minute to do so.

IMU Ball Prom King and Prom Queen Nominees

Hello batchmates,

IMU Ball committee had asked me to submit two names (a guy and a girl) from our batch as candidates for the prom king and prom queen by 28th of February. Since all of us will only be back on the 28th of February, the committee had suggested to me that I do it through facebook.

So here's how we gonna do it

Yayasan Tuanku Abdul Rahman Scholarship

The Tunku Abdul Rahman Foundation invites suitable Malaysian citizens to apply for the Tunku Abdul Rahman scholarship. The scholarship is created to honour the contributions of the late Almarhum Y.T.M Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj as the first Malaysian Prime Minister and Father of Independence. Recipients will be selected from among students through comprehensive interviews.

Application requirements

a) Basic requirements

1) Malaysian citizen

2) 25 years old or under by application deadline

3. Recently finished the first semester *, in Year One of first degree programme in any local institutions of higher learning in the country.

4) Available for the fully local programmes only

b) Academic and co-curriculum requirements

1. Excellent results in SPM/STPM/Matriculation/Foundation level.

2. Distinctions in Bahasa Malaysia and English at SPM level.

3. Minimum CGPA of 3.50 in the first semester of the Year 1 in a first degree progamme.

4. Possess leadership quality and active involvement in co-curricular activities.

c) Additional requirement

1. Recipient of the Tunku Abdul Rahman scholarship needs to serve the country for a minimum of 5 years after finishing the sponsored course.

* Successful candidate will be decided after receiving the full result of the second semester in the first year to confirm the CGPA is over 3.5 in the first year.

Scholarship details:

1. Education fee according to the actual fee of the university.

2. RM1,000 Living allowance a month

3. RM500 Books allowance per semester

4. Allowance pertaining to study e.g. thesis, practical/ project paper allowance and equipment allowance (once a year).

5. Return airfare once a year (for Peninsular students who study in the Sabah or Sarawak and vice versa).

Application

All applications must be made through the Student Services Department of your university. Failure to do so will result in application being rejected. Application deadline is 31 March 2011.

Therefore all applications must be submitted to IMU latest by 25 March 2011.

Application Procedure

Interested students can obtain application forms from Student Services, IMU or from the website at www.yayasantar.org.my

All applications must be submitted before the closing date stipulated in the announcement. Late applications will not be considered. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for the interview.

Talk by Ministry Of Health Holding Singapore

Hey everyone! There will be a talk by the Ministry of Health Holding Singapore regarding the pathways you can take to work as a doctor in Singapore. This talk is applicable for both PMS and Seremban bound students. Please let your batch know and remind them again until the specified date. For semester 2 students, dont worry bout the timing. Student Power Lecture IMU

Back in Sixties, it was the golden age of the student movement in Malaysia. However, the young generation nowadys seem have forgotten about the history behind - the struggle that has rocked the campus and the national politics nearly half a century ago.

Fahmi Reza, a filmaker, will be the speaker of the lecture. His documentary "10 Years Before Independence" had won the "Most Outstanding Human Rights Film’ in festival filem Freedom Film Fest in 2007. He will unveil the true story of the rise time of the struggle of students in the era '60an through public lectures. The lecture will be delivered through multimedia presentation, by using images, photos, videos, newspaper articles, archival material and interviews to IMU students.
