Studying Medicine in the USA - Alumni Talk by Yinn Cher

Dear all,

There's an upcoming alumni talk on studying abroad in the states by Yinn Cher. Yinn Cher is one of our IMU M206 batch alumni, who's currently a 4th year medical student in Jefferson Medical College, USA and UCLA neurosurgery resident this coming June 2011.

His talk should briefly cover:
1) what the states/Jefferson has to offer their students and graduates (also post grad opportunities, i.e. residency)
2) what to expect as a medical student in the states/Jefferson. (The American medical student's life)
3) how to do well as a student there/common pittfalls of students who don't do as well.
4) how to prepare for the boards/USMLE (If time permits)


Who should attend:
1) Anyone potentially interested in matching to Jefferson Medical College after IMU
2) Anyone potentially interested in matching to the States for residency after medical college.

Selective Courses

The Selective Courses – Option paper for ME209 copies will be given after today's lecture (March 30).


Please be informed to return this form (only the Preference Sheet – page 1) to AAD by 15 April 2011.


Also please note that the allotment is done on a first come first serve basis. If you fail to do so, you will be allotted a selective option that has not been chosen by other students. There will be strictly no changes or swapping allowed after the dateline ends.

Biannual Blood Donation and Organ Pledge Drive organised by IMU Buddhist Society is back! It's now open to PUBLIC.

Go Green Campaign

In conjuction with the Go Green Campaign, students are encourged to bring their own containers and stop using using plastic bags and polysterene boxes.

Thus, any use of plastic bags and polysterene boxes will be charged an EXTRA 30 cents.
However, if they do not use any of it, they will be entitled to a stamp, collect 3 stamps and get one lucky draw entry.

Final lucky draw date on 18th March 2011. 11am -12pm.
